I work across mediums of painting, sculpture and ceramics to create absurd narratives that are rooted in the domestic. I’m fascinated by the delicate balance between inviting and unsettling and exploring where sweetness can unravel into eeriness. In my current work, everything that I make is derived from an imaginary world I refer to as the Obscure Domestic Realm. Inhabited by this intimate world are leaky beer cans, oozing blood fountains, a lavender tub who bleeds out of her faucet, and two pink toilets who may or may not be lovers, just to name a few. These characters are anthropomorphized domestic objects that aid in examining the intersection of queerness, femininity, and the grotesque. While seemingly innocent, upon closer investigation, they reveal an unsettling nature.
