In Birthday Card I used Blind Alley’s interior space as a stage, embracing an amateur prop-making aesthetic in this playful, yet potentially dark installation. Blind Alley is a unique space with such a sense of wonder about it, it provides you with just enough of what you need to see on the inside while reminding you of your own presence with the work. I wanted to play with that push and pull and craft a scene that urges viewers to interact with the interior by way of their own reflection and step into the role of main character. The show must go on!
